At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to recognize and assess potential conditions at a structural collapse incident, as well as identify the resources necessary to conduct safe and effective structural collapse search and rescue operations. They will learn procedures for conducting visual and verbal searches at structural collapse incidents, including the Rescue Marking System, Building Marking System, Victim Marking System and Structure Marking System. Students will also discuss development and implementation of procedures for carrying out the emergency response system as well as site control and scene management. An overview of removal of readily accessible victims from structural collapse incidents will be included, as a preview of skills learned in the Operations level courses. Registration is at 6:30 pm. Open Water Rescue Awareness & Operations - Open Enrollment This program is designed for emergency services personnel who belong to agencies whose jurisdictions encompass bodies of water that have little or no current (such as lakes, bays, or large rivers that are deep, wide and have very slow currents). This program is not intended for those who may find themselves working in a moving-water environment. The Basic Open Water Rescue course is for awareness level and operations training only. Topics covered include rescue philosophy and safety, team organization and scene management, basic moving-water hydrology and hazards, medical considerations, pre-planning, water rescue knots, reaching and throwing rescues, boat assisted rescues, contact rescues and managing combative victims, basic search management, victim assessment and stabilization, spinal injuries, and much more. This is a 3 hour lecture provided for the students and each student will receive a certificate upon completion along with a copy of the program. The 8 hour operations class will be hands on and will provide a certificate of completion. *Priced per student PPE Required: Class 3-5 Coast Guard approved swim vest (PFD), swim helmet, swim suit. Vest mounted whistle encouraged but not required. Rash guards also acceptable.

Man in Machine Open Enrollment - Goshen NY - SOLD OUT "Man in Machine" incidents can involve something as simple as a ring stuck on a finger, and may be as complicated as an entire limb entangled in an enclosed auger. This course focuses on those situations, from the simple to the very complex. Without adequate training, the actions of the first responders may be ineffective or even worsen the situation. This program includes work, modular practical tool stations, and "hands-on" extrications in real-life scenarios. This course is designed to help achieve "Operations" and / or "Technician" level training in the Vehicle and Machinery Rescue disciplines as outlined in NFPA 1670 (Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents). PPE will be USAR/Tech Rescue Style, no shorts, gloves, protective eye wear, helmet and something suitable for vehicle extrication.

Students are required to provide their own PPE and be 18 years of age to participate. Pre-Registration is required, all students will receive certificates following successful completion of the program. Masks required for portions of the programs. PPE required include Dry Suit, Class 5 PFD with tether, water rescue helmet, water boots, water gloves, water knife, & whistle. Saturday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at 411 Midland Ave, Garfield, NJ 07026 Sunday: 8:00 am – 5:00pm at Scudder Falls (Ewing, NJ)
